For more than thirty years, I have worked as an educational writer Lost Orchard Prose and Poetry from the Kirkland College Community A collection of poems short stories novel excerpts creative nonfiction essays and one act Kirkland College pioneered the undergraduate creative writing major in the 1970s. Lost Orchard, just published SUNY Press, culls work from Kirkland's alumnae and faculty and is a testament to the vision of the last women's college chartered in the United States. The Kirkland Pioneers Project will gather short reflections paired with past and current imagery. Jo Pitkin grew up in Somers, New York. She received a BA in creative writing and literature from Kirkland College, Clinton, New York, and an MFA in poetry from the Writers' Workshop at the University of Iowa.
